living next door to history....

I'm sort of a history nerd...
so when I got an e-mail about shooting on-location at Whitehall, I felt pretty privileged...

But it was more than just taking pictures of a family at a historic site...

It was capturing images of a family whose history is very much intertwined in that of the house...

L. has worked here 17 years starting in college (I know, it's hard to believe it looking at her!) and her husband, C. also worked here at one time. They were married here.

And, now they live here on the grounds with these two lovely kiddos.

The funny thing is...the whole time I was taking pictures, I thought L. looked very familiar.

I just couldn't place the connection...

Then, we went inside to snap a few...

And she was telling me about the piano that had always been in the house and had once served as a roost for chickens...and then it hit me as we were standing there...she has told me all of this before! She was the tour guide for my mom & I  several years ago!

I came home, called mom (who was thrilled that I got to photograph a family at Whitehall) and asked her if she remembered what our tour guide looked like...she did...and she described L.

I had a little fun with this one....thinking it could look like this random photo that could've been found years ago in a closet or the attic at Whitehall, like these kids always played here and always lived here :)

Kuddos to mom and dad for these last few...they were worn out, the kids were worn out...but you know me...I'm unstoppable sometimes...
Thanks for the fun G. & H.----you two were amazing...and for what all I put you through!!!!

I think the former "Lion of Whitehall" has nothing on this one ;)
